So! I just got back from my trip to Austin for the weekend. I absolutely adore the hill country. It's so beautiful. I plan on living on one of those hills someday. :) I had so much fun spending time with my family. I love them so much.
Here's what we did:
Day 1 (Friday):
We drove. FOR FIVE HOURS. I don't like being in a car that long. But, once we got to Austin, we went to our hotel, unloaded the cars and went to my aunt and uncle's house. We visited for a while, then back into the cars (ugh) and went to this amazing resturaunt called The Pier. It is exactly what it says it is: a pier. We ate dinner ON Lake Travis, literally. And get this, IT WAS IN THE HILLS!!!! It was awesome. I'd been there once before, when it was called Shades, but that was many years ago and it has since been remodeled. It was really cool. Then, we went back to my aunt and uncle's house, visited for a while longer and then went back to the hotel and went to sleep. Sort of. Nobody got much sleep that night.
Day 2 (Saturday):
Saturday is a bit of a blur for me. It was the longest Saturday EVARRR! But it was a good Saturday. We went shopping at an outlet mall (I got shoes!!!) We went to eat at a really cool resturaunt called Buca de Bepo's. It was yummy Italian food, even though I don't like Italian food. We went on a nifty boat ride on Ladybird Lake (previously known as Town Lake). I didn't like the tour guide much. He enjoyed talking about drinking too much. And that night was totally scary! We got to my aunt and uncle's house after our day's adventures and there was a suspicious-looking car parked across the street, in front of the woods by the house. My uncle decided to go check it out, blah blah blah. He thought it might have been some kids doing drugs in the woods, because he's caught kids doing that before. He scared them away, basically. They hopped into their car and left. More blah blah blah. Later, everyone is inside playing a game and we see headlights pass the window. Jason (my uncle) goes to check it out. MORE cars had come and parked outside the house. All the adults went outside and I stayed inside and watched my cousins and tried to comfort them, because they were a little nervous. To be honest, I was too. I was scouring the room with my eyes, trying to find something I could use as a weapon in case someone tried to break into the house and hurt the girls. My aunt called the cops. Apparently, the kids knew it was time to scram, so they packed up one of their cars and sped off. The other car was still there, so when the cops arrived, she went out and searched the woods. She didn't find anything, so she left. Everyone came back inside and kind of freaked out about what had happened. It was really scary. Then we went back to the hotel and tried sleeping again.
Day 3 (Sunday)
Aaaand that brings us to today. We got up, checked out of our hotel, went over to Jeanne Jeanne and Jason's house, ate doughnuts, and decided what to do with our last day. I had told my aunt that I wanted to drive through the hills during the day so I could take pictures. So that's what we did. Then the girls (my mom, my aunt Ann, Jeanne Jeanne, my cousins Allison and Natalie and myself) went to this lovely places called Shaffer's Bend. It was this beautiful river waaaay back in the hills. I took so many pictures. I wish I'd worn more appropriate clothes, though. It was so hot and I really wanted to swim, but I was wearing jeans. :( I fail at preparing for stuff. Then, we went back to Jeanne Jeanne and Jason's and talked and hung out for a while. Then we left. It was so sad. I enjoyed the trip so much and I didn't want to leave. We drove FIVE MORE HOURS and finally, I was home. Yay home! :)
Tomorrow I have a dentist appointment. Yuck. I hate dentist appointments. Whatev. I think I'm gonna go watch Doctor Who and settle down for the night.
Sweet dreams!
